DANVILLE, CA -- October 19, 2004 -- UserLand Software is pleased to announce that it has acquired TLS, secure web client/server software originally implemented for UserLand's platform by Macrobyte Resources. TLS, which stands for "Transport Layer Security," is the industry standard for securing web communications. UserLand's TLS will provide companies and individuals deploying UserLand's products with a means of ensuring that their communications over the Internet will remain secure and private.
"Security has become a primary concern for many people using the Internet," said Scott Young, President and CEO of UserLand." We are pleased to now be able to offer our customers these tools for running a secure web server." UserLand's TLS offerings can be used with both of the company's products, Manila and Radio Userland, to create a secure communications channel for sharing mission critical information.
"I'm quite pleased that UserLand has taken over TLS," said Seth Dillingham, President of Macrobyte Resources. "This shows a commitment to enhancing the tools..."

Just Released: TLS 0.3.1

Macrobyte has just released TLS 0.3.1, which fixes a few bugs found in 0.3 and is probably the last release before 1.0.
Macrobyte's TLS is software for UserLand Frontier and Radio UserLand that provides client side tools for making secure HTTPS requests, and server side tools for running a secure web server. It also includes tools for creating and managing "keys," self-signed certificates, and "certificate signing requests" (for sending to companies like Verisign, Thawte, or Komodo, to receive a valid server certificate).

WYSIWYG Editing in Conversant
Conversant 2:31:50 PM | Permalink | Discuss | Reply (0)
It supports Internet Explorer on Windows, and Mozilla 1.3b+ on any platform. Same features in both browsers.
The HTML editor is a modified version of HTMLArea from InteractiveTools.com, built into a new Conversant plug-in.
At the moment it's only "nearly-complete" because it isn't configurable. Soon it will have a few options for which features to include in the toolbar. When this is done, it will be made available for download (for use with your own Conversant server). Also, it will be built-in to all paid hosting accounts on Free-Conversant.
